The Junior Falcons Junior Minor and Midget teams will be hosting HC Druzhba'78 over the New Year's weekend with two games on tap for the visitors.
On Saturday night at 7:00pm at the Olympia the Junior Minors will take on the highly skilled Ukraine based hockey club, who are fresh off their winning run at the New York International Hockey Cup in Albany, NY. Following that will be a game on Monday night January 3 in Enfield at 7:00pm against the Midget team.
Head Coach Ivan Pravilov is legendary in his country for producing quality hockey players with an strong emphasis on power skating and edge control techniques, in addition to a european flair to the team's game. He has partnered with several USA hockey entusiasts and coaches to arrange this month long trip to New York and New England. After playing the Junior Falcons, Pravilov will then lead his team through Boston and Worcester on a prep school tour and will also play othe teams in the Eastern Minor Junior League before heading to Yale and the New Haven area for more games.
This is the fourth time that the Junior Falcons (formerly Coyotes) have hosted international teams who have requested to play against Gary Dineen's and Coach Lincoln Flagg's organization. The Falcons have hosted Latvia National 18 team, Belarus National '85 team, and the Amur Russian Select team in the past.
