Aleksandr (nickname Sasha) Romanenko lives in Kharkov, Ukraine with his mother who is a factory worker for a pharmaceutical company. He has completed all 11 grades of secondary school education in Ukraine. Sasha has played hockey for the Druzhba '78 hockey club for 10 years. He is an accomplished defenseman with a penchant for scoring big goals late. In Druzhba's recent tour, Sasha scored six goals from his defense position including three game winners and one game tieing goal.
Sasha is very appreciative of the opportunities hockey has provided him and hopes to apply and be admitted to a prep school in anticipation of going to college. He also enjoys chess, reading and music.
